The Rugby World Cup is awarded to the team that wins the final at the end of the tournament, but it is known as the William Webb Ellis Cup as well after a student named William Webb Ellis purportedly invented the game while playing football. In 2011, the Rugby World Cup will take place in New Zealand, and the announcements have been made for the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cup as well. In 2015, the tournament will takes place in England and then Japan will be the host nation for the Rugby World Cup live in 2019.
The tournament sees the twenty nations that are in the Rugby World Cup compete over a month period throughout the host nation, in this case, New Zealand. They compete through two stages. The first ist he group stage and then they move onto a knock-out phase. Five nations are divided into four different pools, which are given the designation of A, B, C and D. The top four are seeded teams from the previous tournaments and then the remaining spot in each pool is taken by the four nations who were the losing quarter finalists from the previous event, put randomly into a pool.

The tournament will be hosted by England[nb 1] from 18 September to 31 October 2015. Twickenham Stadium in London will host the final.
England was chosen to host the competition in July 2009, beating rival bids from Italy, Japan and South Africa. The competition's organisers, Rugby World Cup Limited, had recommended England to the International Rugby Board (IRB; now known as World Rugby.
Of the 20 teams competing at the 2015 World Cup, 12 of them qualified by finishing in the top three places in their pools in the 2011 World Cup. The other eight teams qualified through regional competition. Of the 20 countries that competed in the previous World Cup in 2011, there was only one change – Uruguay replaced Russia.
